Hello.
Welcome to EllenSueStern.com. As you browse through this web site,
you will see my books, literary consulting services and a current
calendar of speaking engagements and media appearances. You will
also have the opportunity to get a preview of my exciting new
product: THE RELATIONSHIP TOOL KIT: ELLEN SUE STERN’S BUILDING
BLOCKS TO GREATER INTIMACY.
But first, let me introduce myself.Like many authors, I have had
an extensive speaking career and have appeared on Oprah, Sally
Jessy Raphael, and Montel Williams. Unlike other authors, I never
set out to write a book. I just wanted to have a baby!
In 1986, after two difficult pregnancies, I founded Expecting
Change Workshops, which offer personal growth seminars for expectant
mothers. which was followed by my first book: EXPECTING CHANGE:
THE EMOTIONAL JOURNEY THROUGH PREGNANCY. Like so many women, I
struggled to juggle competing demands of family and career, which
prompted me to write THE INDISPENSABLE WOMAN, and its companion,
RUNNING ON EMPTY: MEDITATIONS FOR INDISPENSABLE WOMEN. MY INDISPENSABLE
WOMEN workshops have been attended by thousands of women who believe:
“It’s easier to do it myself!” and are searching
for ways to give without giving themselves away.
Drawing from my own experience, as well as the rich voices of
women I’ve interviewed, inspired my series of daily meditation
books on marriage, pregnancy, motherhood, divorce, midlife, and
grieving. As always, using my life as my canvas, I wrote STARTING
OVER: MEDITATIONS FOR DIVORCED WOMEN and collaborated with my
children on their book: DIVORCE IS NOT THE END OF THE WORLD: ZOE
AND EVAN’S COPING SKILLS FOR KIDS with a little help from
their mom as part of my own healing process.
Post divorce, I turned my attention to creating a successful love
relationship by writing. LOVING AN IMPERFECT MAN: STOP WAITING
FOR HIM TO CHANGE AND START GETTING WHAT YOU WANT OUT OF LIFE,
along with my “operating manual:” HE JUST DOESN’T
GET IT: SIMPLE SOLUTIONS TO THE MOST COMMON RELATIONSHIP PROBLEMS.
Right now, I am especially excited about my new undertaking, THE
RELATIONSHIP TOOL KIT: ELLEN SUE STERN’S BUILDING BLOCKS
TO GREATER INTIMACY! This has been particularly challenging project,
as I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis just as I started developing
this very unique relationship workshop in a box. Just when you
think you’ve finally passed the “resiliency test”,
something new always shows up! Living with chronic pain has forced
me once again to set limits, re-prioritize and stop being an indispensable
woman. One new priority--and a great honor--is accepting a post
as Celebrity Ambassador with the National MS Society. I welcome
the opportunity to speak on the topic of SILVER LININGS: OPENING
THE GIFTS OF CHRONIC ILLNESS AND OTHER LIFE CRISES as I continue
to explore the spiritual lessons inherent in this experience.
I believe that each of us is here for a purpose. Our task is to
know what we’re here to teach and what we’re here
to learn.I’m grateful that my career gives me the opportunity
to do both--that’s why they call it self-help!- and I hope
my books and seminars will be a powerful resource as you continue
to follow your path.
Wishing you energy and blessings!
